A pleasant change of life

The Gardens of Annapolis struck me (appearance wise) better than some of the other places did. I have noticed that there are not a lot of men in the facility. The food is in a separate building so if weather is bad, it is hard to get over there. The apartment sizes are on the smaller side, but I am transitioning well. Overall I do not regret my move and would recommend to others looking.

From what we have seen the activities seem good, they do have bingo, Wii bowling, and poker. The food is getting better, and the rooms are acceptable. Our loved ones have a small two bedroom and two bathroom.

Rating is mainly based on incomplete construction

My Mom moved in in October and the building is still not complete. There’s still a lot of construction going on and they don’t have a lot of the amenities available that they originally promised her. The room that she was supposed to move in wasn’t even ready, but they were able to upgrade her to a different room for the same price. The room she’s in now is beautiful and the view of downtown is absolutely fabulous. They only have 1 restaurant available right now, but the food is absolutely gourmet. The team that works there has been wonderful and very nice. They’ve been so attentive throughout the whole process. If I call for any updates, I never feel like I’m being put off or anything. They’re always willing to help and I can say they’re at least trying to do right by the residents. Overall, I think the money we’re paying is worth the care that she’s receiving and the environment itself. I just wish the amenities they promised her were readily available.

A Pleasant Place!

It is a wonderful establishment and there are many levels of care for every individual depending on their situation and needs. The staff is quite attentive and friendly. There is not a lot of younger handicap residents, but there are a lot older than me and some younger and i am 86. The service and residence is great overall, and i am very pleased with my stay.

My Experience

More than half the staff is new here because the other staff was fired or quit since I moved in a few months ago. It's hard to get things completed - for example I had an error in my rent calculation for the first month and I didn't get the credit until December because I asked every week what the status was. I have had maintenance requests put in and were closed without being fixed or I fixed them myself. Communications are not done timely or in print that people could read (large). There is a residents team that meets with the staff, but nothing seems to come out of it. The new residents' meetings have been cancelled every time there is one scheduled. This is important information and it doesn't seem important to the staff. There has been one town hall, but that was to announce the changes in the meal plan and that took a bad turn so everything else was kind of put off to the side. There is part of the roof that is not covered with shingles and it seems that there is no plan to fix it. Housekeeping is good; they keep the general areas nice and clean. The garbage removal is a whole different problem; it is often full and it stinks, people complain but just last week, trash was all over the parking lot, like an animal got into it. There is not enough handicapped parking and it seems the entrance way is always blocked with parked cars that are only supposed to be there for 15 minutes but are there much longer. The move in process is all on the renter, no bins are provided to transport large boxes of items or the carts that are available are very small for groceries only. There were some admin issues with my entrance badge but I got them fixed. The meals are hit and miss in quality and temperature. They recently raised the cost of the plans, which is a pretty high cost for the meal you get. There could be more automatic doors for the folks who use walkers, the downstairs bathroom doors are very heavy and they have a really hard time getting in and out of the door. I would not recommend the facility as it is now and I am thinking about moving to a different apartment and buying out my lease. Too much to be done and it seems that it's handled at a snail's pace.

Our experience so far

The food is great, but the communication to get the food is not ideal. Their system is where they need and help and communication with residents. The dining room has been closed since covid and so they have been having to eat in their rooms. The parking lot situation is horrible to for the residents who still drive, it is very hard to get a parking spot. The key pad in the lobby has not worked since August. The staff are very friendly and helpful, I just think they need some administrative help.

Too Many Promises and Too Many Issues

Although Campo Felice is a clean and lovely place, they have a lot of issues with the property. My parents moved in October and their unit did not have hot water and the air conditioner did not work in one of the bedrooms. There are four elevators and only two work. At least once a week, one breaks and all the seniors have to use one elevator. With wheelchairs and walkers, going twice a day to the dining room, the tenants spend a long time waiting for the elevator to arrive. Two months later, the air conditioner was fixed but the hot water in one bedroom works 3/7 days of the week and the elevator still breaks down. This is unacceptable for a 91 year old man and for the price we pay for their unit. They should have offered us another unit before they moved in since they knew they had hot water issues. The staff is kind and the activities are good but they are losing tenants and have not been able to reach the 50% occupancy that will allow them to improve the facility. They have not delivered all of the amenities they promised when we toured the facility with my parents which is false advertisement. We are still deciding if we should move my parents to another facility but it is very stressful at their age!

Beautiful Place but be Careful

The Lodge is fantastic in accommodations. However what was represented by the leasing agent is not all what was said. I asked specific questions and received answers that confirmed my questions. In reality many things are not so. I was led to believe that there were people to handle some needs, like taking an RX to the pharmacy or coming to help you for quick help. There is no such help. There’s the phone “concierge” and the maintenance staff of two. I was told they could help installing shelving, etc. after I moved in. They do not. This is a lovely place. The restaurant is very good. I would be careful if you needed assistance here and there. It’s non existent. Other people have experienced the same.

Still under construction....

My friends live here. They seem to be mostly happy with it, but they’re a little unhappy with the food. They’ve said it can be a little too rich, but the soup and the hot bread have been great. The facility provides a few activities and they’ll bring in entertainers for the residents. However, it’s still under construction so there are a lot of activities that still aren’t available. There were supposed to be four restaurants but there’s only one and a lot of the units are still under construction as well. The cleanliness seems to be good, though. Their apartment has a patio that looks right at the river, but not many of the units have the same feature. The valet parking is nice, you just drive up and hand them your keys and you don’t have to worry about your car. Overall, if you like a high-rise, city-like, lifestyle then I would recommend this place. But if you prefer country living than I wouldn’t.

The apartments seem clean but the facility smells like smoke..

The apartments seem to be clean but the facility smells like smoke. They allow smoking. The hallways are not clean. The carpets are dirty. Other than that it's a safe place. Its not on a bus line which is difficult for some residents. The cigarette smoke is the reason why I gave it less of a rating. The apartments are spacious and clean. It's just the facility that needs work. The cleanliness is my main concern.

Loved living here for a year until the new management took over in October 2023.

Services are being cut dramatically while the rents remain the same. Our pool has been closed since early October. We are told it won't open for 6 more weeks. Our breakfast program had been reduced from 7 to 5 days a week while the owner is continuing to collect full rent! Stay away! There are lots of other choices in the area.

Better take caution!

We are very disappointed with the declining concierge service we are experiencing here for our loved ones. There is not around the clock concierge as promised in our contract. Forget holidays. They just simply close up. I could go on and on, but I recommend ANYONE thinking about renting talk to ACTUAL residents first. Safety was a huge concern for our loved one, but with no one at the concierge, anyone can come and go straight up the elevators to apartments, enter, the what is now, a PUBLIC restaurant and all premise areas. We expect what was and still is advertised in there brochures and ads today! You do not get what is advertised! Oh, and expect to be charged extra for any holiday festivities to attend.

Totally dissatisfied

This is not an assisted living facility. There are no restaurant facilities. Folks ordered food and it was delivered by a staff member. There are minimal activities provided. The apartments are old. Some units have been renovated. Parking is a problem for visitors as there are reserved spots for residents for a fee per month. There is no nursing or medical staff at this facility. This is strictly a independent living. I would not recommend anyone over 65 with health issues to live here.

SMOKING POLICY

I live here and for the past 8 plus months I live on a floor, the 4th floor of the south tower with a resident who is allowed to smoke here while we all signed a non smoking addendum stating no smoking in or on the premises! I have reported to local, medium and higher up management and NOTHING is done. He is allowed to live here and the doors to all apartments are not completely with all being weatherstripping approved all the smoke defers into the apartments. Tonight about 8:15 I went out to put trash in the shoot and the smoke being this time marajuana overtook the entire floor now entering my apt! No one does a single thing. I am a cancer survivor with a low immune and I have had it!!! I would send texts every time it occurred and no one did anything! I stopped as I could not handle the stress and tonight I’m done! I placed an internet review and writing this which I’m sure you will take done! This is horrible!!
